Hey ladies,
So there are two things on the docket today: rooms and hair.
Rooms
Gavin and I have blocked out sixty rooms in three of Fort Dodge's hotels. We will likely have any out of town wedding wedding party staying at the AmericInn, just across the highway from the Opera House. We would like to start figuring out room combinations (who is planning on staying with whom), so that we could possibly reserve specific rooms for the wedding party. I know that some of you will be staying at home, with dates/husbands or will want to stay with specific people. Please talk amongst yourselves and start figuring on a plan. I know that it seems early, but there is a baseball tournament in Fort Dodge the same weekend as the wedding -how inconsiderate of them, I know -and we'd like to fit things into place earlier rather than later.
Hair
So, my mom is going to chat with my beautician from Sheldon and see if she would be willing to come to Fort Dodge to do hair. She knows my head so well, and she is probably the sweetest beautician on the planet. My mom and I were wondering how many of us are planning on having our hair done professionally and how many people were planning on doing their own hair. I'm fine with either. I'd just like to see what do you're thinking of before the morning of the big day. You can post ideas here or e-mail me directly.
I'm really excited. I know that it seems like the wedding is really far away, but the next six months are going to fly by, and the sooner I have things in order, the better. As I told Gavin this morning, I really want to sleep the week before the wedding.
Thanks for all of your help!
P.S. My hair will be very simple, but it will be "up". I'm not looking for crazy updo's, or elaborate curls. Have fun with your ideas though.
I dibs Becky as my roommate person. I would say that we are welcome to sharing our room with others if that is easier, but I would like to snuggle with Becky. And she better feel the same about that.
ReplyDeleteAs for hair... I was thinking about doing the bun mohawk? Just kidding... Because it is me we are talking about... I am thinking my hair will be up. Maybe something low and curly to the side like I did for my recital? I can do it myself and am also willing to help or do other people's hair if that makes things easier. Although I am no expert.
And yes, sleeping before your wedding sounds like a good idea M... let us know what we can do to help so that you can accomplish that!!!
I like your hair thought. Just one other thought though. Your dress is a little "high necked", right? With the bow? Maybe bring the hair up just a bit so that the dress and hair don't choke you off. Just a thought.
DeleteYou are so right M!!! That is definitely a good idea. Again, I am more than happy help with others hair and do my own. However, it will absolutely be nice to have a professional there just in case things get a little crazy!
DeleteI accept Elizabeth's dibs and snuggle requests. It only seems natural.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure what to do for my hair. I know you said you're flexible, but do you have preferences, M? My hair doesn't tend to hold a curl well (which is confusing, since it's naturally curly/wavy/frizzy/whatever), so if you prefer down, a straighter style might be the way to go. Or curled if you're into the half-curled, half-limp look. ;) Elizabeth could probably do my hair if she's willing -- we both have fairly fine hair, so I think she could handle it!
Yes, let us know if there's anything you need help with now or closer to the wedding! We want you to sleep and feel prepared for everything, so just keep us posted.
Becky, I totally get your hair. Mine is similar... somedays... when it wants to be. I think I see your hair sort of half up. I think Elizabeth would do a splendid job, but you may also want to consult Sarah (my beautician). She might have some good ideas, tips and tricks. (She'll also be free. Yea!) Maybe I'll send some google images your way to display my thoughts better. Does that sound cool?
Delete1. Elizabeth, I applaud you for your appropriate use of dibs.
ReplyDelete2. How do we feel about 4+ people to a room? A few of us could squeeze into a room to leave more open for other guests. Thoughts? Comments?...Bueller?
3. Am, I'll probably just do my hair on my own. It will probably be down if that's ok, and more than likely will be thrown into a mess on top of my head by the end of the night. :)
If you need help with anything, please ask! I am all about sleeping.
I think down is good, Emma. Maybe sort of swept up on one side just to keep your face open? You know what looks good. I kind of figured you'd do your won hair because it is so exquisitely curly. I'm cool with your thoughts.
DeleteI'm going to shack up with Sean. And maybe Mom can put my hair in carrot curlers while we watch the baseball tournament? ;) I kid, I kid! I'm happy to leave my hair in professional hands.
ReplyDeleteI will ask the professional to be sure to bring her carrot curlers, Betsy!
DeleteI will need roommates! Anyone want to claim me? ;) Am, you can squeeze me in wherever...you know I'm not picky! :)
ReplyDeleteI will do my own hair. My hair holds curls well, so I might do long curls partially pulled back, or a simple updo. Also, I am willing to help do other people's hair!
Let me know what else I can do to help!
I think half up with long curls is very pretty, Molly. If you need, Sarah, the beautician, will be free to you and everyone else. :)
DeleteI'd be happy to let Sarah do my hair! (You know I love getting my hair done :) )
DeleteMolly you are welcome to room with the rest of us! I think that Becky, Emma, Adie and I are all going to room together but if it isn't a big deal to put 5 in a room you are more than welcome to come crash with us!!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds great! Thanks Elizabeth! :)
ReplyDeleteHey all! Just a note that I forgot to put into the original message. Don't worry about spending money on the professional. She's coming down from Sheldon and staying over because her travel and a fee for doing hair is what she is being paid. In other words, there is no cost to you for utilizing a professional's help because she will already be there. I would suggest if you're not 100% on doing your own hair, have the professional do it. Just remember this is a formal wedding and hair needs to hold up starting with pictures in the late morning until we fall down from dancing too much in the later evening. Self-sufficiency is awesome, but professional help can also be a life saver.
ReplyDeleteJust a thought for Molly, Elizabeth, Addie, Becky and Emma.... I have a very dear friend and colleague who lives on an acreage just south of Fort Dodge. Harriet and Doug have cleared their calendar for the weekend of Amalie's wedding because they are counting on being able to help out -- two of the most totally awesome people -- anyway, they have basement bedrooms that I have frequently used, and could accommodate the sort of "hen party" you are describing. Oh, and they also have a four seasons room with a hot tub! ;^) If you would want to give this option some thought, I can run it by Harriet and she will start planning for it!
ReplyDeleteI think that sounds great! Thanks, Karen!
DeleteWow, that is really so sweet of you! This really sounds fantastic. I am completely flexible for whatever will work best. If your friends really don't mind having a bunch of girls in their house, then it sounds great! Of course I know we will all be respectful and such. However if M, wants us to stay close and be at the hotel I understand that as well. Are we all getting ready at the hotel or at the church? Whatever works best for everyone else, works best for me!
DeleteSorry, I was out of town for a while and neglected to check this (clearly). But M, you make a great point about hair -- I know Elizabeth would do a great job, but my hair can be a huge pain and not stay as well as it should sometimes, so I'll be happy to have the professional (Sarah? I think?) do my hair as long as that's still ok! And Karen, so sweet of you for that offer! I'm flexible as well, so if it makes sense to stay at your friends' house that sounds great to me. I wouldn't want to inconvenience anyone, but if they're up for it that is great. However, I agree with Elizabeth that I'll stay wherever makes the most sense and wherever M would like us to be. Hopefully this helps at least a little bit? Maybe? : )
DeleteHey all, sorry I suck at responding! If a site isn't on my phone's home screen I tend to forget about checking it! But I'm here now so get ready for lotsa comments. In regards to hair I am fine with doing it myself depending on what you're looking for. I would prefer it to be out of my face but not completely hidden behind my head, otherwise I tend to look like a chemo patient in photos! I'll have to test whatever style before hand to see if I can make a look that can survive a full day in June! And if not, I'll happily let a seasoned professional work their magic! Any suggestions or requests would be great!
